Ah'Nuit Charles Nelson

Hospice Chaplain & Veteran

Ah'Nuit served in combat in the US Army during the revolutionary uprising of 1965 in the Dominican Republic. He served in the army from 1964-1967 and received the US Army Commendation Medal for distinguished service in the Military Intelligence Branch of the US Army in the European Theater. He was an expert marksman. Ah'Nuit is now a hospice Chaplain and plays an integral role as a team member who has an instant camaraderie with other veterans.

VarNaNae (Tressie Wingfield)

Hospice Volunteer & Veteran

VarNaNae grew up in New Hampshire in foster care. As a child she learned to train horses and horsemanship became her passion. She has worked in several zoos training lions, tigers, and sea lions. She joined the navy during the Gulf War and was an aviation electronic technician. VarNaNae is a hospice volunteer and is part of our music therapy program. She can relate to the challenges of veterans and wants to be of service.

John Danner

Hospice Volunteer & Veteran

John was born in Albany New York, and was the third of thirteen children. He and all of his six brothers served in the Military. At the age of seventeen John enlisted in the Navy and had two deployments to Korea in 1952 and 1953. After the Navy he enlisted in the U.S. Airforce and served at Eglin AFB, Florida as a Dental Technician. He then attended Albany Medical Center School of Nursing and accepted a Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps serving as a nurse for twenty years in U.S. Army Hospitals in both the U.S. and Europe. John retired as a Lieutenant Colonel at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. John is a lifetime member of the Korean War Veterans Association, the Fleet Reserve Association, Military Officers association, and the American Legion. John currently lives in Green Valley with his wife Pat. They have been married for 60 years and have three sons and one granddaughter.
